What you get with privacy film

Privacy day and night

Frosted film blocks the view in both directions at any time of day, while still letting light into the room.

Light stays in the room

Unlike blinds or curtains, film lets daylight through, so bathrooms, hallways and meeting rooms do not go dark.

Bands, borders and full panes

Film can cover a whole pane or just a band at eye level, so a room stays open but people cannot see in from a seat.

No new glass

The film goes on the glass you already have. It can come off later if you change the layout or move out.

Types of privacy window film

Privacy films work in different ways. The right one depends on when you need privacy and how much light you want to keep.

Frosted film

Turns clear glass translucent, like etched or sandblasted glass. It blocks the view both ways, day and night, and lets light through.

One-way or reflective film

Looks like a mirror from the brighter side. People outside see a reflection during the day. At night, with lights on inside, it flips and they can see in.

Gradient film

Fades from frosted to clear, so the bottom of a window or door is private and the top stays open to the view and the light.

Decorative and patterned film

Lines, dots and patterns that add some privacy and a finished look to glass walls and doors.

Ask us which of these we carry and we will show you how they look. If you also want heat and glare control, see residential window tinting and commercial window tinting.

Where frosted window film goes

Office glass walls and boardrooms

Glass walls keep an office bright, but people in a meeting do not want to be watched from the hallway. A frosted band at seated eye level keeps the room private and still lets light through above and below.

Bathroom windows

Frosted film gives a bathroom window the look of obscure glass, so you can keep the blind open and still have privacy.

Front doors and sidelights

Glass beside or in a front door lets anyone at the step see down the hall. Frosted or gradient film stops that and keeps the entry bright.

Storefront bands

A frosted band across a shop or clinic window hides the waiting area or back room from the street. Ask us about adding a logo or lettering to it.

Picking privacy film that works day and night

Start with when you need privacy. A bathroom or a bedroom facing a neighbour needs it at night, so frosted film is the safe choice. A ground floor office that faces the street may only need it during work hours, so a reflective or darker film could work and keep more of the view.

Then decide how much glass to cover. A full pane gives the most privacy. A band or a gradient keeps some of the view and light.

Film comes off later if you move or change the layout, so it works for leased offices and rentals. Check with your landlord first.

Privacy film and security film

Privacy film and security film are different products. Privacy film is about what people can see. Security or safety film is a thicker film meant to help hold glass together if it breaks.

If security film is what you need, ask us whether we carry it before you plan around it.

We also tint cars at the shop. See car window tinting. To price privacy film, send photos and rough sizes through the privacy film quote form, or call (825) 437-0948.

Privacy and frosted window film in Calgary

Privacy window film goes on glass you want to keep, but do not want people looking through. Frosted film turns clear glass translucent: light still comes in, and shapes and faces do not. Other privacy films are tinted or reflective and work best during the day. Gradient and patterned films sit in between.

It is used on office glass walls and boardrooms, bathroom windows, front door glass, sidelights and storefront windows that face a back room. It goes on the inside of the existing glass, so you get privacy without replacing the glass or adding blinds.

We do window film for homes and businesses as well as car tint. Ask us what privacy and frosted films we carry and we will show you how they look.

How a privacy film job runs

01

Where you need privacy

Send photos of the glass and tell us what you want to hide: a whole room, a seated area, a bathroom or a back office.

02

Film and coverage

Pick full coverage, a band or a border. Ask us what frosted and privacy films we carry, and we will quote it.

03

Glass scraped and cleaned

Each pane is scraped and cleaned and the area around it covered, so the film goes on clean.

04

Cut, applied and checked

The film is cut to the glass, squeegeed out and checked from both sides before we hand it back to you.

Privacy window film questions

Frosted film is translucent and blocks the view both ways, day and night. One-way or reflective film works like a mirror from the brighter side. In daytime people outside see a reflection. At night, with lights on inside, the effect flips and people can see in.

Frosted film does, because it blocks the view no matter which side is brighter. Reflective and tinted films only give privacy when the outside is brighter than the inside.

Yes. Bathroom windows are one of the most common places for frosted film. It keeps the room private and still lets daylight in.

Yes. Window film can be taken off the glass and the adhesive cleaned off. That makes it a good fit for rented offices and homes. Check with your landlord before film goes on.

Security or safety film is a thicker film meant to help hold broken glass together. It is a different product from privacy film. Ask us whether we carry it before you plan around it.

Decorative film covers patterned, gradient and frosted films used for looks as much as privacy, such as a frosted band with a pattern across a glass wall. Ask us what we carry.

It depends on how much glass you want covered, full panes or bands, the film you pick and how easy the glass is to reach. Send photos and rough sizes and we will quote it.

Ask us. Film on glass that gets wet every day needs the right product and edges. Tell us about the door when you request a quote.

No. Frosted film lets most of the daylight through, it just blurs the view. Darker privacy films cut more light, which can help with glare too.

They also did our house windows with architectural tint to block out some of the heat and UV rays to prevent bleaching our furniture. It was quick and easy and the results are worth it. The main floor stays nice and cool now and I've noticed our A/C is not running as often as it used to on the really hot days.
